'WAITING BEHIND THE BINS FOR BERNIE'
INTERVIEW WITH SARAH GOUGH

FEB 2019

"If you talk to a man in a language he understands it goes to his head, if you talk to him in his language, it goes to his heart." Going into my interview with Channel Four journalist and former Exeter student Sarah Gough, I set my sights on bridging the gap between journalism and languages.

BY NATALIA PINAZZA

JAN 2019

The months that preceded the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 gave Portuguese a new prominence. These global events went in tandem with a period of economic boom in Brazil. Work and investment opportunities drew attention to the country, its culture and its official language – often mistakenly presumed to be Spanish.

A GUIDE TO DOING AN MA IN TRANSLATION
BY AMBER WOODS

JAN 2019

Like most language students, I’ve always had a passion for language, culture and travel, but at eighteen I didn’t want to commit myself to a full language degree. WHAT LANGUAGES MEAN TO ME

BY FLORENCE GOMEZ

DEC 2017

It was during a tear filled eleven-hour flight from San Francisco to Paris that I realised I would be happier living abroad for the rest of my life. This was my epiphany moment after having spent nine months studying the English language at Mills College (EF school), CA and living with an African American host family.
